Half Marathon

The Half Marathon of Lisbon is a yearly sports event, which is very popular among athletes from all over the world. The Half Marathon takes place on a very special location: the 25 de Abril Bridge. The finish is near the world famous Jerónimos Monastery in the Belem district on the north bank of the river Tagus.

Indie Lisboa

IndieLisboa is an independent film festival in Lisbon. In 2010 the 7th edition of IndieLisboa took place. The festival aims to show new independent films from new directors. The program of IndieLisboa contains as well national as international films and the best films are awarded with special prizes. IndieLisboa is held at the end of April and the beginning of May. The screenings take place in different cinemas in Lisbon.

Rock in Rio Lisbon

Rock in Rio is one of the biggest music festivals in the world and is held in Brazil, Spain and Portugal. In Lisbon the Rock in Rio festival takes place in the Bela Vista Park near the Park das Nações at the end of May. Some of the most famous artists and bands that performed during the 2010 edition of Rock in Rio Lisbon were; Shakira, Muse, Soulfly and Snow Patrol.

Super Bock Super Rock

Are you planning your citybreak Lisbon in late June and the beginning of July, than you will have the great opportunity to visit the Super Bock Super Rock festival. Every year the festival headlines the best rock bands from all over the world. The festival has been held at different locations. In 2010 the festival took place at Meco in Sesimbra 40 kilometers south of Lisbon.

Dia de Santo António

One of the best periods to book a citybreak Lisbon is around the 13th of June. This day is dedicated to Lisbon’s patron saint St. Antonio. The city centre is one big stage for marches to honor St. Antonio and other saints that are important to Lisbon. People are dressed up in beautiful traditional costumes and you can watch performances of folkloric groups. Dia de Santo António is all about eating, drinking and dancing in the streets of Lisbon.

Jazz em Agosto

Are you a real jazz music lover, than the best time for you to enjoy an amazing citybreak Lisbon will be august. The nice open-air amphitheatre at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is the place to be. Talented jazz musician will give here great concerts you really shouldn’t miss.

Queer Lisboa

Lisbon is home to many film festivals, one very special Lisbon film festival that deserves your attention is Queer Lisboa. In 1997 the 1st edition of Queer Lisboa was held. The films that are shown during this festival concentrate on gay issues. You can watch the films in different cinemas in the city, including in the Cinema São Jorge.
